Forever Home

A homecoming after years in California, designed for a family putting down roots for the long term, this multi-volume compound includes a main house, a pool pavilion, a greenhouse, and a sprawling landscape. Each building features light brick and standing-seam metal, no eaves, with every gable running clean to the roof edge.

Continuous Structure

Inside, the exterior cladding carries through with charred cedar and brick passing from outside to inside and thermal breaks concealed in the wall assemblies. The interiors are clean and simple throughout: flush door frames, no baseboards, a continuous shadow detail in their place. The upper floors are vaulted, with mechanical systems hidden in a furred-down ceiling that preserves the geometry as drawn.

Natural Living

Outside, the program is built for daily use—a lap pool with a planting right up to the edge for a lush feel, a sunken firepit lounge, a covered outdoor kitchen, and a working landscape of more than 32,000 plants, including a greenhouse and edible garden.
